As title really.
We are hoping to be booking our very first UC flight with Virgin to LAZ for next year, and after reading though what feels like hundreds of threads on here, I can't seem to find any advice as to the best seats.
As we have never flown UC before, we have no idea what would be the best to go for - any advice.
Thanks in advance

Hi Carolynn
I just asked a very similar question last week. I'm travelling to Boston in UC on a 346 - the same config as your LAX flights VS7 and VS23. The advice
I got here seems to be 4/5/6/7K on the right are good. Both Honey Lamb and Apple gave some great advice based on their experiences. Or you could possibly opt for 10/11/12/14A, but these latter ones are closer to the bar, galley and rear toilets so they will have a bit more passing traffic.
If you look at the
v-flyer seatmaps here you can see that the front left half of the 346 UC cabin has seats A-D facing each other as does the right rear G-K. If you want more privacy the seat numbers I note above are best as there is a dividing wall opposite your seat.
Enjoy the trip.

It's all down to personal preference. UC is never particularly 'couple friendly' as the 'suite' design prevents sitting close (unless one of you sits on the other's ottoman)
Personally I like to be in 2A (no-one in front of me, and air conditioner / shelf to put things on - although it's clearly labelled not to put anything on it) with my wife in 3A

6 and 7 K were good for us on Honeymoon. Nice and private and quiet. But, Mrs Monster actually prefers PE because UC is geared for the individual traveller. Holding hands across a suite is a bugger!

Opposite Suites can work too. We had 20A&D on the 747 recently and found that quite a good config. I don't know which opposites work on the Airbus though, because I remember reading on here about mis-alignment between the window and centre seats.

Just in case you are wondering what the wall that certain seats face looks like:
Seats 7A-17A

I personally like 10/11A, about half way down the cabin, close enough to the bar, but not to close, and nobody opposite.

Everyone
I think that is all a great experience. We've all been fortunate to have travelled in UC, which most of Joe Public will never get to see
The fact that we all bicker about WHICH bit of this wonderful fo this travel experience is best - and we've all (fortunately) done it enough - means (surely!) that it's a GREAT experience - newbys - sit anywhere - be greatful to be there - and if you want to go again - you will know where you want to be - after all, the only BAD set in YC must be in the middle of a row back in Economy - and DON'T forget it....

I like 7 and 8 on the left hand side near the cupboard, no one looking at me opposite and somewhere to stash my roll on.
Personally I don't feel lucky, there have been times when I didn't have a pot to piddle in, that's not now though and luck didn't come in to it

I guess it isn't bickering - being a bit picky, well yes, probably that! I never forget being lucky if I can travel UC

It's not about bickering - it's about helping those people who have decided to spend their hard earned money/miles for their first UC experience and making it as best as possible for them. Unless it is a free trip, then I don't think being grateful should ever be a feeling one should feel when flying UC. One way or another we have paid to sit up front, so why be grateful.
There are some seats that are better than others in every cabin, UC included, but whilst there is a slight differing of opinion, it is clear the early K seats and the A seats from 10 to about 14 are the best in the opinion of V-Flyers.

Sorry Peter but the only time I will be grateful to be sat in UC is if someone else paid or I got an op-up. In which case id sit anywhere. But when i pay out of my own pocket (which I have to!!!) then I do want to have the best seat possible though the 'best' seat is personal preference.
I once witnessesd a woman on a UA flight complain bitterly to the Check in agent about her 'bad' seat totally forgetting she had just been upgraded. Now that is ungrateful.
People on here give their views on that and there is some difference in that opinion.
Thats not bickering or being elitist (which to be honest in my opinion your 'be grateful' comment came over as though I'm sure you didn't mean it to)

Hi Tonty / Neil/ Catsilversword
I didn't mean to be disrespectful here. Normally when I'm in UC it's on miles, although I have paid for seats several times as well. What I meant was that all of UC is pretty good, and Newbies should relax and enjoy wherever they sit, and not constantly be worrying that the row in front / behind them might have been better

Hi guys,
first of all thank you ever so much for taking the time to answer my questions - much appreciated.
Secondly, we have been saving miles for MANY years and fingers crossed we manage to book the dates we need very soon. For us, I cant ever see us travelling UC again for a very long time, and since we have been saving for this for such a long time, and looking forward to it (as well as paying quite a bit of hard cash towards it) we would just like to get the very best possible experience we can.
Normally we travel economy once or twice a year and vey occasionally we have been lucky enough to fly PE when there has been a good deal on, and even then, we always try to do our research to get the best seats we can.
No matter where we sit, I'm sure it will be great, but if we can get a seat that is slightly better for us than I would much prefer to know about it and go for it rather than take pot luck.

If this is a "first" UC (and/or business class) or possibly a "once in a lifetime" (or "once in a very long time"), then it makes perfect sense that the OP is trying to make the most out of their trip - good on them! ^)
It is true that there is no such thing as a truly bad business class seat, but some do provide more peace or privacy than others. If you have the choice, then you would be mad not to pass some thought on which seats would be most suitable.
Personally I do count myself as being "grateful" every time I fly business class (normally on paid tickets, sometimes miles). I used to feel very "excited" about it, but don't tend to now. But I do feel very grateful for or appreciative of the extra space and comfort.

Hi Carolynn
We have flown to LAX twice in upper class, both times I decided that we would have seats 10a & 11a. Both very good seats half way through the cabin with the wall facing you so you don't have anyone facing you, we were both more than happy with these seats. Before I booked these seats I did alot of research on V flyer.
We thought we would only be in upper class once, but as they say - once you have turned left there is no going back. On our second upper class flight last year, I was still as giddy about upper class.
Which ever seat you choose, enjoy the experience from start to finish
Sharon
