Answer when it's a VS sale....

Been waiting for a PE sale to Vegas for a while. One was announced yesterday c£900 from both LGW and MAN up to 17th July.

I have checked every date from pretty much the minute that the offer was loaded on the website and there is not a single flight available at this price. Thought there were new rules about advertising on the Internet!

Question - if there are K available on the flight shouldn't they be at the sale price or is there a limited number of 'super K's?

I've also been waiting for the PE sale but for flights to Boston and I can't find any of the sale fares through the VS website or speaking to the call centre.

Funny though that the sale fares can be booked through Opodo, Lastminute.com etc. The guy on the phone at the VS call centre didn't seem to understand why I didn't want to buy the flights from him for £350 more each! He just kept saying that his were the cheapest flights available.....hmmmm...

It's more annoying due to the fact i'm trying to use up Virgin Vouchers we got as a wedding present!!

Do you think it's a fault with Virgin's booking system today or are we all just going to be forced to buy the cheap fares from the Travel Agents instead!!??

Personally where possible I book from exedia (if the cheaper flight was listed there) for the simple reason they don't charge a credit / debit card fee (some of the other internet sites do and even more than VS 1.5%)

It will be the lowest fare bucket though so a non upgradable ticket but 99% of people will be more than happy with that.

They do but its a bit of a faff and you have to buy the VS flight first then send them screen shots, using their webform, of the cheaper price by midnight of the day you book on the VS site.

Isn't it because the agents buy/cover/claim a load of discounted tickets, so it could be that Virgin have sold out of them but the agents have not. I have often been able to get cheaper tickets through agents than through airlines websites with many airlines.

The VS website is shocking and clearly 'up the creek' at the moment. I suspect the reason why no sale fares are showing may ne realated to a problem I've encountered today with web site saying that no LHR-LAX-LHR 'L' fares are available on any date in Jan/Feb/Mar next year.....ridiculous, these are paid for fares, not rewards!

Maybe they are trying to get it streamlined for compatability with Delta's.......

I also booked through Expedia for our last flights - the price difference was considerable. Worked out fine!
