V-Flyer

Hi People

We fly out on V400 on Thursday 16th June to Dubai. Earlier I received an email from Virgin offering an upgrade to Premium both ways for £298 each. My returning flight is 21st June on VS401

I immediately phoned up as were heading out to Dubai as part of our Wedding; and I was told I could only upgrade on the way out which is the same costs as going both ways.

I have been hunting for a reasonable upgrade but both my outbound and inbound flight seem full, the best I have managed so far is to get the exit row seats

Here's my question:

1. Am I hoping endlessly that the airline will release more seats?

2. is either of the flights full?

3. If I do get the opportunity to upgrade is it worth going to premium economy or should I just use the cash for the trip!

4. I already feel aggreivied by Virgin as I booked the tickets during their so called "sale" that ended on 31st May but then the tickets dropped further, now the upper class upgrade is silly money for mere a pesant like me, but I'd really like to make the flight as special as possible, does any else have any advice on how this could be achieved?

On my last few 400's they have been announcing the option to buy upgrades at the gate, but the loads in economy have been pretty light. The announcements have regularly been in the 130-140's for passenger numbers.

Could you not choose to fly one way upper on your outbound as that's the night sector where the bed is really useful? The day return food is normally only average and I very rarely sleep.
