Hi all,
I am looking to travel to ORD on 30th July, returning on 15th August. I have been monitoring prices for a long time now and they are consistently around the £750-£800 mark. Crazyily high I think!
I'm hoping for a price reduction nearer the time ...
Can anyone tell me what the current loads / seat availability is for these dates please? And maybe 31st July too if possible?
Many thanks

If you were to leave on 29th July then you should be able to get the lead in price for summer which is around £754.
For a 9 hour full service direct flight in high season this is a price that people will pay. Even on indirect carriers around your dates there doesn't seem to be anything cheaper.
Even if a sale comes out there would be no seats on 30th or 31st so if you have to go and aren't flexible then that is the price that you'll have to pay I am afraid.

Hello from Chicago - I came over two weeks ago, and then for a few days this week. I've been pleasantly surprised at the loads on each of my three flights so far, all around 210 pax - so it wouldn't surprise me that the lowest fare codes for your dates are gone and the chance that prices will go down is very low.
Indeed the seat map for your outbound shows a healthy load:

Wow this is certainly an eye opener, and has made me very worried!!
Now the dilemma, do we just bite the bullet and book them?! Or wait and see. Judging by the seats left .. it might just be bite the bullet time.
I never thought I'd have to pay that price for a flight to Chicago!
Thank you all for your help

For a seasonal flight ORD loads seem to have been pretty healthy, I was surprised at ticket prices Including sale prices to ORD this year, believing that VS would need to promote the route, but it hasn't!

The price is the price is the price and will probably rise in the future what with the price of fuel etc. If you have to fly on certain days then you are essentially stuck. If you are flexible then you may get a better de but I can't see you getting a much better price on VS.
If you delay booking them the cheaper fares will be sold and you will end up paying more
What are prices like on expedia etc for other carriers? that will give you an idea of how VS compares.
