Does UC fill up at the last minute?

Hi all,
I have been checking the seating plan for my flight VS73 on 21st June Man-MCO.

It looks like there are only 4 seats allocated in Upper Class and a dummy booking for 7 (that's the most it will take) says at least 7 seats are avaiable, unless they sometimes oversell UC? :?

Question - does UC usually fill up at the last minute with upgrades and crew flights? Or can we expect to have a fairly empty cabin? I have never flown this route with out it being totally full in UC.

Would anyone be able to do a load check please? :)

Looking on the EF seat plan, both W and J are nearly empty. Y is busy but it shows about 40 empty seats.

There may well be upgrades at the check-in and gate, but I wouldn't expect too many seats sold now.

With the US financial year being in Sept we have noticed an increase in meetings or conferences taking place in June and July. One of the big conference centres now is Orlando and given its proximity to NASA and the like many are likely to be held and flights not yet booked. My wife works in software and has two in Orlando coming up over Summer in Orlando (one is on the NCSI website but there are other similar websites)and I would expect they will book flights a week out (and in business)

Fascinating. Thank you.
I have noticed our hotel the Waldord Astoria is now fully booked midweek but avaiable at the weekend, and I'm guessing that this is with conference people as well. The good thing about that is that the pool will hopefully be empty while they are all in the conference! :D

I noticed on my UC flight that the UC cabin really doesn't fill up until closer to the time. Perhaps some people buy tickets and don't pick seats or they are sales through travel agents which are allocated at a later date.

Given that the OP is on a midweek flight, outside school holidays - I would not be surprised if one or two of the empty UC seats get allocated to people on staff travel (if there are any staff travellers onboard).

When I flew MAN-MCO in January, a party of 3 on staff travel were moved from PE to UC. It was good to see that everything was done by the book too - they were given the seats in Upper with broken IFE (2 of them had to go to PE to watch the safety video) and they were the last to have their meal orders taken - some of them did not get their chosen meal.

Have a good flight!

I always find that the seatmap shows at least 6-7 free seats in UC out of 14 (I mostly fly to ANU from LGW) even up to 24 hours before, yet when I finally get to my seat on the day, all seats are invariably taken :?

maybe some people aren't that bothered about pre-selecting a seat (and / or doing OLCI.) and are happy just to take whats allocated.

Does overbooking happen in UC as in other cabins?

VS tends to overbook on business routes, but not leisure routes, so you will hear stories say LON-NYC of bumpings, but generally not to leisure destinations.
