Hi,
Have a look at the
seat ratings page, which gives a good idea.
Everyone is different, so it's difficult to say, some prefer window seats, some prefer to be at the front so they can beat the immigration queue, some prefer to be in the 2's at the back for a bit more space.
Thanks,
Neil

and others would go for the mini cabin at the front. rows 21, 22 and 23

having sat in a few -preference no 1 is pay for exit row seats and get the very front ones (thinks its 26 ) and definitely A-C
not only is the leg room great you will be first off -and if you have never done immigration at MCO that can be worth up to an hour
if you are in no hurry then the second row of twos at the back

that is why i like the little mini cabin. being one of the first off at MCO is a good advantage especially if another international flight has beaten you to the gate.
as you are on the VS15 I would say sit as far forward as you can.

The only concern about the mini cabin especially on the MCO route is that there will be lots of families with infants and small children sat there - so avoid it if you like peace and quiet.

One word of warning on the exit row seats. I was placed in one of the seats next to the door but because of the large 'lump' at the bottom of the door (guess it's the escape slide in there) I couldn't put my legs out straight and it was not that comfortable for a long flight.

You are correct in thinking that the "lump" (door bustle) contains the slide/rafts. Because of the restricted legroom, you should not be charged for the window seats - if there are two of you travelling you usually pay for the seat next to it and get the window seat "free".

Flew LHR to LAX upstairs in economy recently - one of the best flights I've had - great service, quiet, plenty of crew about and one of the first off.
Only downside was watching the steady stream of food to UC!

there is no economy on the upper geck of the LGW & MAN fleet so this is not an option for fly_nik

Quick question - on this config are the seats in the back of the mini cabin 24DEFG preferable to 26ABC at the front of the main cabin? I've got the latter booked but wondering if I should change my preference.

26 abc will be fine.
some like the private feel of the mini cabin but as Tinks said earlier you risk being in there with noisy children and babies so it may not be the quietest area.

Hmm... Hate to admit it but I may be one if those with the noisy children... First flight for a 2 year old
