Had to laugh when I just received this:

As the provider of your Virgin Atlantic credit card ending 0915, for security purposes we monitor your account & have noticed a purchase of £2,011.58 to Virgin Atlantic crawley on 27/06/11. If you recognise this transaction please reply Yes to this message or reply No if you don't recognise this

I get those to, suppose it is better they check then let something fraudulent go through your account!!

I get these too , ocassionally.
The last time was as reported in a previous thread and someone/something had tried to book an Air China flight using my card.
A "NO" reply to the text soon proved it was a fraud attempt and then the amount refunded to my card.

I for one find them a good thing to help against any security risks...although amusing when you get VS having a query on a VS sponsored card!

I do like the text reply as it save expensive calls when overseas only to tell them "yes".

Absoutely agree, I've received them before too - generally when I'm using my card a lot in a place other than UK, and yes it is great that they actively monitor like this.

I just thought it a tad amusing that, on this occasion, I was using my Virgin Atlantic card for a Virgin Atlantic transaction and it got queried - especially after all the incentivising on MBNA's part to get us to use our cards for VS purchases :)

I chuckled at a VS card querying a VS purchase but it reminded me to call my credit card company about my forthcoming trip y)

A good thing that they check.

The potential for fraud is not reduced by it being a Virgin Atlantic transaction though is it?

Yes, better safe than sorry.

My bank calls me up - the first time was scarey! An automatic message presaging all sorts of financial disasters!

At least you would get double points! :)
