V-Flyer

Here's the deal, I'm looking to fly to NY next year and return on the QM2 to Southampton.

However, it appears that return tickets are cheaper than one-way ticket....Now I'm sure both VA and BA have this covered in their small print, but what would happen if I only used the outward bound part of my ticket?

I know there was a thread about using returns as one ways recently and i'm sure someone will be along soon who has more knowledge of this than me.

However if you haven't booked yet can you not get Cunard to sort it out as part of the package. Normally with the QM2 they include the flight either way.

A colleague at work did it recently and they even allowed him to fly out a week earlier and pick the ship up to come back at no extra cost. All depends on if the fare class they use is available. And his only cost £100 more than the cruise alone.

Ask your cruise carrier for a price, then compare with what you'd be willing to pay, then don't worry about the return - it's not worth it and they won't sue you.

There are special one way fares that tour operators can use in conjuntion with transatlantic voyages. Also - and very importantly - this would then be booked as an ATOL protected package. You would lose this protection if you book the sailing, flight and NYC hotel (if needed) separately through different sources. Alsdo if you need a hotel as part of the deal Cunard tend to be very expensive! As a travel agent I can help but, with respect to the terms of the site, I can only do this at your request. PS. I've done QM2 transatlantic and it is fabulous - if you are open minded then Eastbound is the way to do it as the daily hour change alleviates any jet lag!
