G-VGAL In Cardiff?

Noticed that the VS016 was diverted to Cardiff the other day - how come? Surely it would of been less hassle to carry on to LGW. Even if there was a medical emergency, id imagine it wouldn't of made that much difference to the flying time?

Something to do with running low on fuel then?

If 'fuel uplift' means what I think it means then yes.

Was the weather over the Altaltic bad leading to a chnaged route or headwinds or was there a leak of some sort?

Landing and refuling at Cardiff was probbaly safer and cheaper (I think airlines can be fined for being under fueled) than going on to LGW.

She had to detour 250 miles to avoid very bad weather over the atlantic so then needed to refuel at Cardiff.

I came from SFO-LHR this Monday 25th and for at least an hour it was incredibly bumpy. The worst I have experienced in 20 years flying so I am not surprised.
