Hello,

just wondering how much extra an economy to upper will cost?

I priced up an L class fare from LHR to MIA at £869. If I was to apply 60,000 miles to this (yes there are award seats for those dates) how much in total would I need to pay.

I expect there to be some hidden charges, however they are so well hidden I cant see them!

There will be APD and Fuel Surcharge applied to a miles reward upgrade. Check with the rewards team to confirm or do an online "dummy booking"

Will be an extra £154 made up of an extra £60 APD and an extra £94 YQ (fuel surcharge)

Just get in quick because reward seats can be there one minute and gone the next and hard to predict when they will reappear

One question, are the taxes the same for both legs in and outbound? I've only upgraded myself US-UK and additional costs were always very small ($25 or so, albeit this was at the airport).

No, they are different - much less going US->UK than other way

APD only applies for ex UK legs and not on into UK legs.

On an ex-UK upgrade from Y to PE or UC you would have to pay the additional APD (£60). (the AD rates are the same in PE and UC)
