Best way to upgrade London to San Francisco?

We've just booked an amazing honeymoon - stay in San Francisco followed by Alaska cruise! As it's a special occasion we'd really like to upgrade to PE but it's looking a little pricey after our splurge on the honeymoon itself! I was told through VH that the price would be £329 pp each way, but then managed to get offered £510 pp round trip. Is this a good deal? Is it likely to be cheaper to upgrade at the airport on the day? I know I can't bank on the old 'complimentary honeymoon upgrade'!

Welcome to the site.
As you are booked through VH your upgrade options are fairly limited. You either upgrade with them in advance at a price the quote, or wait until the day and see if they have any on the day specials.
To be fair, the price quoted at £510pp round trip sounds quite good, the usual on the day prices are around the £250pp one way, especially on the West Coast flights. Of course waiting until the day, you run the risk that there is no space available, and if there is, you won't have first pick of the better seats.
Thanks,
Neil

I agree with Neil - It is a good deal.
Booking now also means you know you will be in PE rather than taking pot-luck at the airport and risking being dissapointed. You will also get a better selection of seats. At the airport you will only get what is left (if any at all)
You will also get the extra baggage allowance (2 bags each instead one 1) included rather than paying extra for it.
And yes you can't bank on the 'honeymoon upgrade' option. VS dosen't do that sort of free upgrade.

500 quid to go to PE is a good deal - grab it because it will not be there for long. That is a popular route and PE usually sells out fast. It is also a long way 11-12 hours - so do whatever you can to get out of economy.
Upgrading at the airport is very unlikely and even if available they will probably want you to pay up to the real PE price with no advance purchase. But don't fret about that because it will probably be sold out.
You will kick yourself if you dont do it
