Hi
Just checked my booking and the option to view/change seats has disappeared from both legs of our flight - does anyone know why this may have happened?
Does this mean we will have lost our seat requests?
It's our honeymoon so really hoping not to get split up...

Only 60% of seats are available for request and once that total is received that option to view/change disappears until on-line check-in re-opens. Your seats will not have changed but to be sure, check a couple of hours before then and then do OLCI as soon as possible to secure them. Be aware though that even then for operational reasons changes may happen

Thanks for your reply, one thing I prob should have mentioned is that our outbound flight is Manc to Las Vegas on New Years day and when I last checked a couple of weeks ago there were only 18 seats reserved...

Could it be due to this:
The following information concerns passengers on flights departing from or arriving into Gatwick, Manchester or Glasgow between 15 June 2011 and 01 April 2012:
Unfortunately due to a technical error many passengers who had reserved their seats were unseated and seat selection was temporarily unavailable. Regrettably we have been unable to retrieve the required seating information to reseat passengers in their original seats. However, we now have repaired the fault and seats are once again available for selection. Bookings were not affected, only seat selections were lost.
If you made a booking and reserved a seat for a flight departing from, or arriving into; Gatwick, Manchester or Glasgow airport between 15 June 2011 and 01 April 2012, you can go on line and re-select your seat through "Manage my Booking". If you booked through a travel agent and you have not yet received your ticket (or e-ticket), your travel agent can re-select your seat for you. Seats will also be available to select at check in.
Virgin Atlantic apologises profusely for any inconvenience this will have caused our passengers.Extracted from

WOW. That suggests a WHOLE load of complaints will be heading their way shortly...

(For reference, the above only applies to PE passengers, according to the VS site in the link)

I did wonder that as have read about this on here before however we're actually flying Economy. It's a mystery. Will keep checking booking and see if it re-appears..

Dude, where have you been for the last month or so? We've been dealing with this on a daily basis since then. I realise you have had other things on your mind like visiting various muddy fields in the name of festivals and getting engaged but please do try to keep up! |:)

Does it still list the seat numbers you previously had?
If it does then you are still OK.
As Honey Lamb says is looks like the 60% limit has been reached. Most of the remainder of seats will be opened up at OLCI or shortly before (should you want to change your current ones you will be able to do so then).

Hi Tontybear - No all reference to seats has gone. Have tried to take a screenshot but it won't paste into the box unfortunately

I've found that once the 60% pre-selection quota has been reached it simply changes from "View or change seats" to "View the seatmap" where you can still view your selected seats but everything else is greyed out without any option to edit.
Perhaps VS are playing around in the background, I know a couple of members have noticed PE seats were available for pre-selection (previously not).

To be fair, if the site had webcam capabilities, you wouldn't see my head right now as it's hidden under the desk...!

If you do a dummy booking for your flight on orbitz.com you can see what seats are available, it's showing plenty of seat avaiablity in economy for MAN - LAS on 1st January. You won't be able to check your own seats but at least you can keep track of how fully the flight is.
PS You can only check Upper Class and Economy
