VA Flying Club Points

Hi,

Having registered for V-Flyer recently, I am really getting into the forum etc. The people and their advice are great!

Just wondering if there are tricks and ways to increase my reward points as quickly as possible?

Thanks.

In the past, this was a common theme for threads and, to a great extent is one if the main raisons d'etre for the whole site.

There used to be lots of tips and tricks for maximising miles and attaining gold status for minimum outlay. The problem is that, one by one, they all seem to have disappeared, as more people took advantage of them. n(

Gold runs are a thing of the past, and the best way to maximise points (other than by flying) is plain and simple - the Virgin Amex card.

There are other ways - most of which are listed on the VS website here.

In the 'old days' there used to be alerts on this and other websites when rogue fares or special offers appeared. They still appear but, due to the viral nature of the internet, they rarely last very long.

Nick

1. Get the Virgin/MBNA Amex Card (Black has an annual fee, but gets you double miles)..not sure how long this will last though as MBNA are trying to sell their Card Business in the UK.
2. Buy everything you can via the Virgin online shopping link..use the Amex Card to pay for stuff.
3. Travel more miles on VS flights and VS codeshare flights.
4. Recommend friends /colleagues in the "miles more Friends" link.
5.Use hotels and car rentals affiliated with Flying Club (again book via the VS Website)
If I've made any glaring ommission, other fellow V Flyers will add to this list.
Enjoy collecting, better still, enjoy the rewards.

Edit: See, as I typed this N.N. answered it all concisely!

Hertz usually give 1000 miles per rental, Virgin Trains give miles per pound spent but only for online purchases (for some typically VT reason), online shopping is good (even ebay) plus the numerous VS flying partners all add up to some great mileage opps.
Plus I also think you can get them flying VS but I am not entirely sure !

I just use my VS Amex as often as possible as even small amounts build up the miles. My £ 5 lunch from M&S might only be 5 points but after a couple of months it all builds up!

I only spend on my credit cards what I would spend anyway and pay it all off when the bill comes in.

Virgin wine is a good one as there is a sign up bonus (?3000) then miles (? 750) for every case you order.

Slinky - so only 3m more and you can expect to find SRB sitting on your ottoman, ready to present you with an exclusive lifetime reward card made out of graphite (or has that already happened?).

I would suggest the he could also throw in a week on Necker Island, but I think you'd be expected to take a hammer and some nails along...

I'd thought that maybe he could but thought it would be cheeky to suggest same.

However there would be enough to go around especially for some poor souls like me who cannot use the VS Amex card because I am not a UK resident *cue violins*
