Question regarding miles for shopping on the website

If I buy a car insurance policy via aviva I get 1600 miles.
If I buy a car insurance police for my father in law, but through my virgin miles account would I still get the miles, or does the insrance have to be in my name to qualify. The website does not say anywhere.
