Does Virgin offer bereavement fares? I just rang them to book a flight to NY for this Thursday for a funeral and was told there weren't any. Are there a special amount like reward seats or do they just not offer them?

Have to confess, I have never heard of bereavement fares, flexible changes to already booked flights yes, but advance purchase no. Sorry to hear that's the reason for your travel.

Ahh must not be something UK airlines do. Most US airlines offer them and when I lived in the US you could get one if needed. Though because of the way the fare was calculated it wasn't always the cheapest option.

Anyways I booked a Thurs-Sun return for £446 in Y. Not too bad considering less than 3 day advance purchase.

it is something that they can offer but normally required documented evidence prior to booking, got that from a friend.

Hmmm. I told them I could provide whatever they need and still was told they don't offer them.

A 10% discount/refund is provided upon receiving the relevant documentation, however this is only valid for Economy booking classes Q and upwards..

My thoughts here are that you got a sale 'O' class fare, which works out much cheaper than a 'Q' class ticket with the 10% off.
