London Heathrow to LAX fares

Hi everyone
New to this, looking at prices for flights to LA and they seem to increase 21st JUNE instead of 30th as in previous years. I was wondering if this might change in the coming weeks. I would appreciate any advice as travelling before the 28th is difficult for me.

What do you mean change?

Fares change for all sorts of reasons - school holidays, big events at a destination, price increases - fuel / landing charges etc

There was also a recent sale which has just ended and that could also be a factor.

If you have to travel on certain dates it does not matter what the fare was last year or that they are cheaper or more expensive the week before or after.

The price is what the price is.

Hi Pinotman and welcome to V-Flyer

The prices are quite variable and are affected by holiday times in general and UK school holiday dates in particular. The end of June is generally within term time so that is unlikely to be a big factor. There may be other reasons such as a festival or conference in LA that attacts a lot of Brits, but higher prices is a general indication that there is already heavier booking or an expectation of it.

The situation is not likely to change overnight but they will most probably have another sale in January (or when BA do!). As Tonty mentions, the UK sale fares just finished yesterday, but I'm assuming you did your comparison on the same day so that would not account for the difference you saw.

Your challenge is that if you have fixed dates you may just have to accept the price for those dates. The unknown is they might go up or down in the future. It all depends on the "Black Magic" team at Virgin known as Revenue Management.

As we generally say on here - if you are happy with the price, best to book it and secure your seats.

Cheers

Martin

PS we are generally a friendly lot on V-Flyer :)

A Q was asked and I answered (and Martin also gave many of the same reasons as I did) so am not sure why you responsed in that way Slinky especially as you did not add anything more to my answer.

Hi guys
Thanks for the input, I'll monitor the fares for while then probably book sooner rather than later
Many thanks
