Upper Las - Man question

Hi all
I am looking for some advice, we are travelling out to LAX in upper but coming back in premium as there is no availability of a G's coming back yet.
After doing a bit of research some G's have now become available, coming back LAS - MAN in upper 2 days later. Has anyone done this route in upper, we have only done the LHR route in upper what are the cabin differences etc, I know we will probably be asleep for most of the time.
We live in Yorkshire, so this will mean we will have to do a one way trip with either BA or BMI down to LHR but may be it will be easier on the way back, we normally drive down.
As I said in a previous topic, I am checking daily for a G to become available mid July for our return flight from LAX and I am wondering if just to hold on or maybe a detour to Vegas is not so bad, just need to persuade my dad to dog sit an extra 2 days.
Any advice is much appreciated
Sharon

I'm reading between the lines that you have a PE return to LAX that you have upgraded to UC on the outbound leg with miles?
In which case your outbound PE ticket must be either S or W fare class ... changing your return is not straightforward and warrants a call to VS. You're likely on a S (guess) so:
- The fare conditions of the lowest class ticket apply, S's have restrictions on flexibility and you want to add a change of departure airport too, so VS will need to confirm S availability on your new LAS return.
- To do this there will be change fees, only by telephone can you be advised of these.
- The UC return will need 40,000 miles for the two of you and about 30 quid each in additional tax.
If you see availability then since they're like gold dust call VS immediately to discuss options and have them put on hold while you determine whether you can do what you want to do.
Your other option, to wait for UC back from LAX, is like a lottery, some G's may be released, they may not be.

Thanks for your reply
I have used most of my miles for this flight, G's on the way out, whilst P's on the return,I was informed at the time of booking that we would just need the extra 12,500 airmiles plus taxes each to upgrade, is this correct?

You need 20,000 miles per person to upgrade from PE to Upper (one way). Unless there's some special redemption sale going on that I'm unaware of?
Thanks
James

I think that Shaz72 has 'purchased' the flights outright with miles (not using them to upgrade) so to move from PE to UC on the way back would just be the difference between a PE miles flight and a UC one (plus a little extra tax/fuel surcharge etc.) which is 12,500 (a one way PE flight is 37,500 and a UC one 50,000!) There's also a £25 change fee to pay too on reward bookings (believe this may be waived for gold members though?)
If it was me i'd grab them quick whilst they're still there, be kicking myself if I waited and they disappeared!

In that case, if there is G availability LAS-LGW and you want to return from Las Vegas, it's easy, I think £25 to change plus the additional duty. Call 'em up pronto!

Those 'taxes' will be the additional VS fuel surcharge so not a tax at all.
