Hi Guys
I am flying to Shanghai on Monday 17th. It’s a Z class ticket so I believe I can invite a guest into the CH as long as you’re booked on a VS flight.
I am going solo for business so if anyone needs a pass let me know...
Cheers

This person might appreciate contact from you if he is travelling alone

Do remember though that your guest has to enter and leave the Clubhouse at the same time as you.

I'm not so sure about the entering bit, James unless they've changed the rules. Last year I invited a V-Flyer into the CH who arrived after me. I simply left his details at the door when I went in. Perhaps it helped that he was on the same flight as me.

As I remember it you can leave the guest name with the door monitors (so your guest wont be able to enter before you get there) but once the host has left for their flight the invitation lapses - so it's not a totally open ended invitation.
It is less clear if the guest has to leave at the same time as the host though.

Oh right well my connecting flight gets in at around 9am, so I would say I am in the clubhouse from 10am - 3.15pm for my flight.
Is it really that strict when it comes to entry/deptature of the CH?
I just thought why not if its available

I got told no when I tried to leave a guest name at the door last year.
This was the official response I got from VS:
I am sorry if there was an misunderstanding in the rules but where we have used the word ‘guest’ in the text you have highlighted, we do so meaning a guest of the Gold member that must be accompanied at all times whilst in the lounge
I would say your guest is able to arrive after you have (but obviously whilst you are still in there) but I read that as meaning they must leave at the same time as you even if they are on a later flight than yours.
BMI have exactly the same rule about you guest leaving at the same time as you.

I certainly would agree that a guest could not be admitted before you were. How would the CH staff know if perhaps your travel plans had changed?
With regard to guests, on the couple of occasions I have invited guests the first was at the request of a v-flyer whom I had hoped to meet on the day of my flight but who had had to fly a day earlier. He asked if I would be kind enough to sign his colleague in. The colleague arrived after me and left before me. He tried to seek me out to thank me but I was having a treatment at the time so I didn't get to meet but had a very nice thank you PM in response.
The second time was the one referred to earlier where the traveller was on the same flight
While wishing others to enjoy the benefits I enjoy in the Clubhouse I am very aware that an invitation is a privilege and not an entitlement and therefore I am selective as to who I invite taking into consideration the time of their flight in conjunction with the time of mine. I would not therefore be inviting someone travelling on a late flight if I were travelling in the late morning/early afternoon even if they were going to be in LHR at the same time

Please don't take it that anyone is ungrateful for your offer of entry. It is just that there are various rules that apply to entry and we don't want you (or your future guest) to be caught out by them.

And that is one of the reasons why we advocate the use of the Itinerary Calendar for issuing invitations to the Clubhouse. We are not against such invitations as such but they do have their limitations. For example, I think I have a flight to DXB leaving at 9:10pm. My flight to LHR arrives about 1pm so I could be arriving in the Clubhouse just as your flight is being called - or if my flight was delayed, even later. Or I could have taken a later flight which as a tighter connection (a no-no to me) and I would arrive after you had left. In the latter instance I would not gain entrance but in the former, although you may just be there to let me in, I'm sure the door concierge would have something to say if I arrived just as you were departing - and that something would be "No"

On my recent flight, I popped out of the CH to meet someone I was signing in (also on my flight), once signed in, they went their way and I went mine, I left the CH whilst they were having a treatment. No issues.
