LHR to MIA aircraft

Hi
We've just booked our flights, outbounding being on 04/05/2012 from LHR to MIA. I note we're on a B744 but I was hoping we'd get on an A346. What are the odds that we will have an aircraft change as I thought the A346's were used for the MIA route?
We have 'requested' (word chosen carefully) our seats on the B744 so if they were going to change the aircraft then I take it we would get bumped out of our 'requested' seats? We have fallen foul of this before!
Thanks.

Someone with more knowledge than I will confirm, but I believe that MIA is a mix of 747 and 346 depending on the season and sometimes days of the week. If your flight is in the middle of 747 season then unlikely ...

As Slinky says, MIA is a mixed route - in the May 2011 schedule it was a 747 outbound from LHR 5 days a week, with a 346 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
That combination ran from 17th April - 9th June 2011.
I haven't seen the 2012 schedules yet, but I would expect something similar.

If you look in the schedules (in the tool box) that will give you some history on which plane operated on which day and you might be able to work out a pattern.
In anycase VS can change planes right up to departure so try not to get too hooked on being on a particular plane type.

Thanks. I'll have a look in the toolbox and try and get an idea, sounds like a very useful tool.

I much prefer the 747s personally.

IMO the 346s are newer quieter planes. the 747s are older and shabbier BUT the LGW ones have a small UC in the nose and PE in the bubble which many (inc me) prefer.

When it comes to the shabbiness of UCS neither 346 or 747 wins, some like the 747 for it's size, in the UCS cabin this results in more space, others like the 356 for the lower noise, which is amazingly noticeable. These are but examples ...

Currently during Summer 2012 the Miami flight is due to be operated by a 744 on Mon/Fri/Sat/Sun and a A346 on Tues/Weds/Thurs.
This however can be changed at any time.
