I haven't recieved mine, I was concerned that they had lost in the post as my online account had been showing the new card numbers for a couple of weeks and a friend has already recieved their new cards.
I rang MBNA yesterday and was told not to worry as the new cards have been sent out yet. When I mentioned that a friend had already recieved both the new AMEX and Visa cards, I was again told that no new cards had been sent out and that my friend was mistaken...However on my latest statement; I have already recieved the 1000 bonus miles for using the new cards.
How do MBNA work that out?

Weird. No letter and my online account only shows AmEx and not Visa.

Looks like I've been left behind <cue end music from Incredible Hulk>

Darren, I've only got AMEX too, maybe it's only a few folks who're getting both...

Got mine (white), done my first purchase, but my first venture into using the contactless payment feature failed.

How do you use the contactless payment feature, do all places even have the gadgetry yet?

To add to concerns of a few - I got a text last Monday to say cards were on their way. Come Friday and no cards, I called them... to be told 'oh yes, they were sent out yesterday (Thursday)! Left me wondering why the text 3 days earlier. And of course, the cards then arrived the very next day....

Have never got that to work on my AMEX one (have had a contactless one for a few months now) but new VISA one seems to work fine! Assuming it must be a different process for retailers to accept AMEX contactless payments than it is for Visa/Mastercard ones!

Remember that contactless payment is new to retailers as well. They will probably not have the correct hardware installed, especially the non High Street stores/outlets.

As new card payment terminals are introduced to retailers, maybe through an ongoing maintenance replacement contract, they will be upgraded to accept contactless transactions, it will take quite a while for it to become the norm. Not all retailers will be able to use it though as....

Contactless transactions are not accepted for sales values over £15..its all part of the PCI approval and security rules. (PCI is the card industry security regulator, along with other agencies who try to ensure card data is secure). |:)

Hope this gives you all an insight into the anomalies that you are experiencing.

Yes in the bumf they sent they stated that the 1st time you used your new card you would get a 1,000 mile bonus.

They credited Octobers miles in two parts - (for me) 22nd October (when they 'upgraded' my account) for miles earned pre then and then on the 9th November the 1,000 miles plus the balance of my spend miles (the 9th is my usual statement date)

I didn't actually receive my new cards until the 12th though!

Got my cards today - went online to activate them & this all seemed to go through OK, but it won't show me my PIN numbers, it says the cards are inactive. Maybe there is a slight delay on the MBNA system... will try again later.

I only had Amex too - seems the automatic thing was to replace with 2 cards (Amex and Visa).

So is it 2000 miles then? I got 1000 credited before the cards arrived, but thought I read 1000 on first spend...

Just got my first statement since the Visa card was added. Anyone know which of the two card numbers should we quote when making web banking payment? Or perhaps if I use my old number payment will still get through?

Thanks
James

I think you could use any of the 3 numbers, James. My DD is still using the old number and the payment was received fine.

James

I paid mine the other day using the old number and it went through ok. I remembered after re the changed account numbers so thought it might bounce back but it was credited ok.
