I have just been looking at my one and only flight per year to orlando next year!! and to my horror I am on a vs073 flight from manchester to mco. and they plane configuration is the old cronkie one, not the new shiney one.
we flew on the new one this year and it was fantastic. the inflight entertainment system was fab, I ran out of time for what I wanted to watch, dam short flights!!
whats the chances that it will be a new one and not the old one? please tell me it is! (I need cheering up)

The old ones (assuming you're referring to the 747's) are all being refurbished starting early next year and will all be done by this time next year - featuring the same seats and in flight entertainment as seen on the new A330's - so depending on when you're flying you could have it anyway without a aircraft change

The 747 refurb will be done between April '12 and October '12 so you 'touch wood' will get one which has been done.

When do you fly? If later in 2012 then the chances will be greater as more are refurbished. If earlier the chances will be less.

Just to clarify, the VS73 will not be operated by an A330, it will be a 747, refurbished or not.
Oh and the 747's aren't old or cronkie, in need of the planned refurb yes, but the a/c are still actually young in a/c years and in good mechanical shape.

Yes all of the LGW/MAN 747 fleet is due for refurbishment from April. You MAY be on a newly refurbed aircraft but won't know until OLCI.

I would hope it isn't an A300- they are old and cronkie!! Fly on one of them and you'll soon appreciate a Clapped out LGW/MAN 747.

I think the OP is referring to the A330-300 which flies the MAN-MCO route and not the A340 series. |:)

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_A300The A300 is a 40 year old aircraft, but yes I guessed they meant the A333.

With all this hassle going on we have playing safe and sicking to man 75 and 76 this year we love the bubble on the 747 and can't wait to travel up there once again. We have travel twice a year with virgin from man, it's nice not worrying about not getting upstairs or getting moved down (god forbid v( )
