Pre-flight notifications from VS

In the past I have received an email one week before my flight reminding me of it (like I'd forget! ): ) and pointing me to such things as OLCI and baggage allowances. I didn't get one for my flight in July but then I didn't expect one since I had booked through a third party. I did however expect one for my flight later this week but my Inbox has remained empty. Has Virgin Atlantic discontinued this practice?

I recieved one last Saturday for this Saturday's flight. My stomach did a flip flop when the title was important information about your flight. I thought there had been some major change to the flight.

Don't think I've had one for my last 2 or 3 flights; although I do recall getting one for flights a year or two back...

Got text messages from them as well, although that's patchy too...

I use TripIt for that kind of information. They monitor the flights and send you updates via email and text messages when OLCI is available, flight time changes etc.

Might be a bit much if you only fly once or twice a year but for regular travellers, its a good service!

I use Tripit as well but I rather like the notifications you get from the airline itself. Aer Lingus sends its out two weeks beforehand and it does start that frisson of excitement when you realise its a pre-flight notification instead of the usual fare sales announcements. I was looking forward to getting the VS one and am a tad disappointed not to get it. Sad, I know but one must get life's little pleasures where one can :o)

I agree HL about it building the excitement of your up coming trip!

VS communications for me have been fairly hit and miss. Sometimes I receive a text or email or most likely neither!

The main thing I love about Tripit though it the Itinerary planner and if you subscribe to your Tripit Calendar in your iCal app on your Mac/iPhone, it keeps all your travel details sync'ed across multiple devices! Genius!
