Noticed that today the aircraft is G-VAST LGW/MAN 747, not the usual A330.

I wonder if any lucky people got an upgrade to UC?

Yes, something was up Saturday as the VS75 has no actual data on the flight schedule.

Wouldn't have thought so.

The Y cabin on the 747 is bigger than on a 330 (379 v 255) so plenty of room to spread out.

PE is one seat less on the 747 though so unless PE was full on the 330.

I bet they wouldn't have even catered for UC either.

Friends of ours are due to fly out on VS075 on Tuesday. They`ve had a message from Virgin that their flight is now departing at 1.30, instead of the usual morning slot. Looking at the flights, they`ve been departing at 1.10. Hopefully they`ll have 20 minutes less at the airport than they think (will help with 2 nippers in tow) I`m not sure if Virgin are consolidating both flights onto the 747, will be seeing them tomorrow night and ask more questions then.

VS075 flew out today at 10.25, don`t know which plane it actually was. Just checked with our friends and their flight has definitely changed to after 1pm, they wanted the earlier morning slot with 2 hyper kids, save having to amuse them for the extra hours.

Oh, I hope this is a temporary thing. I was looking forward to going out on the A330 in Feb.

Not sure if G-VSKY went tech on Saturday after arriving into MAN. However, no VS75 was scheduled for Saturday 14th Jan as I understand it. G-VKSS was flown up to MAN from LGW on Saturday afternoon, left around 1300 and picked up the planned rotation for Sunday 15th and Monday 16th.

I also seem to remember that the VS73 was not due to operate today which might explain why G-VAST picked up the VS75 this morning. However, not sure if G-VKSS has returned to LGW yet or does it mean we have both A333s on the tarmac at MAN???

All a mystery but hopefully someone will pop along (in the know) to let us know exactly what has happened.

Jon

Just checked Expertflyer and no VS75 planned for tomorrow just the VS73, the next VS75 is scheduled for Thursday this week and currently is showing an A333 seat map!

There is a Virgin airbus on the tarmac at Manchester at the moment, unfortunately can't get close enough to see which one.

Well, after speaking to our friends last night. Both outward and return flights have been shifted. Out on Tuesday 24th - they were on the VS075 morning flight - are now on the afternoon flight, can only presume it`s the 747 as they didn`t ask, but have 3 seats and 1 across the aisle. Returning back to MAN on 7th Feb, they were coming back on VS076 - again what we thought was A330, now they`re coming back on a 747 - as seating plan shows the same configuration as above. Originally both flights were to be A330, now they`re 747 on both. They were hoping they would originally get at least 1 trip in each. Does anyone know if this regularly happens, or could it be that there`s not enough passengers on one plane and they`ve consolidated them all onto the 747?

Looking at the schedules via the Toolbox there have been several more consolidations onto the later VS73, and yesterday (the 31st) the service was run on Hot Lips a 747 but as VS75 departing in the morning.

The VS76 back on the 31st (Hot Lips) only had light loads too, 222 adults, 3 infants and 17 crew....

We were in the bubble with quite a few spare seats up there too.

Will try to do a trip report soon. :)
