I know someone said there were plans to open a new one in spring or something, so whats the status of the JFK clubhouse...

We are flying back early March. If the new one isn't open, do we still have the old one? Never used it before, and unlikely to fly upper from the JFK again anytime soon, so wondering what we'll be seeing, if any clubhouse at all...

The old one will be open until the new one is ready. The current CH is landslide but the new one is going to be airside so it doesn't need to be closed until the new one is fully ready.

According to this story the new JFK Clubhouse will open in March!

I was thinking that it ews for increased numbers V America pax but they leave from the A side and the new CH will be post security.

So maybe offering it to one of the other airlines than fly from the B side of T4??

The LX lounge is also currently pre security and so will be moving ...

I bet while its early March, it won't be March 3rd or before, when I'll be in JFK...

Maybe the extra capacity is for the rumoured JFK - SYD route with Virgin Australia

Just had an email from FC with details of the new JFK CH, opening 5th March.

Not sure if it's ok to copy the email into here?

It details that there is more than 10,000 sq ft of space with lots of new innovative features!

For those of us that will be at JFK days before it opens, I wonder if they'll let us in for a sneak peek if we ask really nicely

I really hope so - I fly out 29th Feb. Flew through JFK last month on the 18:00 and the security was carnage. Sooooo many people all trying to get through at teh same time as there are 3 (could even be 4) flights (one for El Al) all departing at the same time....JOKE! )

Having been in JFK last night, it seems fairly obvious to work out where the new Clubhouse will be.

Once through security, next to gate A5 there's a flight of stairs leading to 'Airline Lounges'. Two carriers already have lounges up there, but there are empty spaces on the sign for plenty more.

Except VS flies from the B Gates ... or is it moving?

On Saturday I was on the VS46 which departed from A5. VS4 was off from A7 (I think).

Incidentally, A5 had just about enough seats for 50 people. Nowhere near enough space for a 747 load.

The A gates do not have the space, quite true, I don't know how EK and SQ board an A380 from there ... that said all the news reports said the new VS clubhouse would be 'near the gates VS uses' ... so another bit of detail to be confirmed!

Thats great news, our return flight is on 31 May so this is something else to look forward to.

Pwerhaps the use of the A gates at the weekend is due to the work being done on the B gates?

9 new international gates are being built on the B side - and is simply a weekend move when pax numbers are lower so they can work right through?

ISTBC but Delta are moving more flights in to T4, so I think those gates are being used by DL. There was plenty of evidence of construction around T4 though.

We also noticed that the VS3/VS4 aircraft was parked at a remote stand until just before departure when they were towed to the terminal, as were the SQ and EK A380's.
