Taxis or London Heathrow cars and DTCI

We have got our first UC flight booked for April (LAX) and are unbelievably excited.

As we are not very likely to be able to fly UC again for some foreseeable future we really want to make the most of the experience, including DTCI.

The problem is we have actually booked a pre-night hotel (Renaissance) with parking so will need to use a taxi (or hopper bus) to get to the airport.

As we really wanted to try DTCI we obviously need to get a transfer who will give us the drivers and cars details at least the day before.

London Heathrow Cars have give us a reasonable quote of £16 but I have read a trip report where they turned up in the wrong vehicle so the pax count use DTCI in the end.

Has anyone else had any luck getting a very short transfer from Bath Road and using DTCI - preferably not silly money.

Thanks in advance

I was going to suggest Tristar - they're the people who VS uses and their booking system automatically transfers the details to VS for DTCI. But a quick quote check on their Web site for the Renaissance seems to treat it as a central London pick-up and prices the trip at £67 :0 . Which seems silly - I don't know if this is a flat rate for LHR but you could call them.

That has cleared it up. Better than getting LHR and LGW wrong on your departure day.

Oh that does happen more often than you would think. At least LHR and LGW are reasonably close to eaah other unlike Sydney New South Wales and Sydney Nova Scotia!

As to the OP - yes there was a TR where this happened but I'm sure there are lots more cases where it did go perfectly smoothly and TBH whilst DTCI is very nice personally I wouldn't pay £67 to use it on such a short journey as yours.

Well I have contacted Tristar and even though its such a short journey it will be £67... a little too much to pay for the privilege of DTCI.

£16 with London Heathrow cars seems a better option but I would prefer to hear from people where this has worked OK for them.

And I agree, Tristar must be having a laugh, their depot is in West Drayton so it's what, 3 miles to T3, whereas they charge the same to drive me from W1 to LHR! Sorry that didn't work and good luck!

We used AirportFare on our last trip (AirportFare.co.uk 0208 9688811) who charged £27.00 with a pick-up from the Sheraton Skyline.

They were on-time and confirmed all the required information for DTCI on the previous evening. A very stress-free experience especially if travelling with multiple items of luggage.

We will use them again.
