This could prove interesting if it does happen. I Say let BA have BMI and let VS and BA fight it out. Although it will be a shame if/when BMI goes.

Strange, the link won't work. You have to go to travelweekly.co.uk and browse

Try:

http://www.travelweekly.co.uk and see the article - Block BA and Virgin will replace BMI’, says Branson.

Sounds too good to be true, think BA will win this one. :(

Sounds a bit vacuous and standard Branson 'Quick, let's say anything to get a headline' gumpf.....

Errr - if BA don't buy BD and VS want to set their own regional service up...

Who's buying BD?!?

I get a 'runtime error'(whatever one of those is).

Exactly, talk about foot'n'mouth, even SRB has lost the plot on this one.

One does wonder if his mouth is connected to his brain sometimes. Must be exasperating to work with...

There's no chance. Even one airline operating domestic flights in/out LHR is too many; if BD couldn't do it profitably then VS have no hope.

Exactly, so its just a pathetic spoiling technique to get attention for VS and bad feeling to BA - imagine that if BA don't buy BD, I suspect LH will simply shut it down to prevent further losses, sell the slots, and thousands will be out of work.

Nice job SRB and Mr Ridgeway.

I think half the problem is that, for as long as I can remember, VS has been butting up against BA (for reasons that everyone will be well versed in) - and often I feel that SRB and Ridgeway feel the need to say anything - literally anything, no mater how ludicrous and ill thought out - to keep the fire of animosity alive.

There is no way that VS has the monetary strength to develop a domestic UK carrier, nor does it, in my opinion, have the infrastructure to support such a development.

Well theres Virgin America and Virgin Australia linked by VS so why not Virgin Europe and then create a Virgin Alliance? Have a few codeshares in Asia, African and the middle east and the worlds covered.

Or am i dreaming again?!

Anyone remember Virgin Sun? I think that died a death due to abymismal management and a lack of passengers. I suspect a VS Europe would go the same way; would have to effectively break into a market dominated by EZY, BA and the monstrosity that is O'Leary Airways...and at the moment, I think it's unlikely, if not impossible.

Plust the fact it was pretty awful. Never experienced them myself, but my mum was on the first flight (before the 1st passenger flight even, due to her being a travel agent at the time) and she said it was a bit of a shambles. Had a friend go on them about a year later and sounded like things hadn't improved much...

Think its a case of 'seemed like a good idea at the time'
