BA conundrum

the mother in law is flying next tuesdsay on BA LGW to TPA. currently booked in EC

having just checked ,right now its WIDE open (as in only 25 seats reserved) so currently i see no point in paying 25 quid to hold one......but she could get an exit row for 50 OR upgrade to WT+ for £150 (so an extra 100 over the exit row)

oh and BTW muggins here would be paying for it.

so my question for any BA flyer is (on a 777) a) is an exit row any better than possibly having a row of 3 on your own (do exit rows have fixed armrests and b) is WT+ any better than either an EC exit or again a row of 3...................

never used WT+ and comments seem to indicate its nowhere as good as PE

WT+ do now get a CW meal service, so food has improved.

£150 for a 9h50m flight, I'd do it.

the food isnt a major issue.....its more comfort....and my thinking is ....would a WT+ be more comfortable than 3 WT in a row ????? and it is the mother in law !!!!

My own experience of WT+ is quite positive, although if the food/service aren't a particularly importnat element, it may not offer substantially more than an exit row in WT.

The WT+ seats are that little bit wider, but only you can judge how important this might be!!!

All in all, may be worth saving the 100 quid...if it were me, I'd upgrade fr that money, but if it were for my mother-in-law...:D

BTW - did you know, an anagram of mother-in-law is "woman hitler"??:D

mrs adolf is quite small so width isnt an issue for her....of course if it were me personally I would consider it, though if it was an overnight flight the possibility of 3 seats to one self is appealing

Bearing in mind that you can't raise the armrests on WT+ seats, in tat case a row of three Y seats might be preferable.

LGW flights do not have Club meals in WTP. It is only rolling out at LHR as a trial.

Not sure how you are checking that the flight only has 25 seats taken... but remember BA charge for seat selection (to non status holders) so looking at the seat maps isn't a good way to gauge how busy the flight is... although I did check on ExpertFlyer and it is wide open in all classes.

Oh and for £150 I'd take a WT+ upgrade (even though it's not a patch on PE, it's still a massive improvement on regular Economy)...
