Just seen these UC prices posted in sales section but cant get any for September (or any dates)..any advice welcome

This one I had to post in pictoral form for a record. Anyone like to travel backward in time, you can with VS (cue, doesn't anyone actually read the crap they post sometimes)!

Those are fares available in PE not UC

It's the price for PE, on the ideas page it says PE, then click through it says upper, but matches the PE fares. Quite a big error, and as Slinky pointed out, traveling back in time.

Its a pity I thought they might have started a good sale for a change.

I'm hoping for a good sale early december this year again...

prior to posting on here I had rung the booking office and as it turned out it was a wee be a bit like”nailing jelly to the wall”.. The chap I spoke to told me the special offer tickets for my chosen dates had been taken up...hence why I tried a few other date but same result kept coming up..no offers

What is annoying is the fact the voice at the end of the phone did not say this was an error on the site and advised I try other dates either side of my original chosen dates...surely it just cant be me getting things wrong when dealing with VS. I had saved the URL for rapid checking each couple of days..hence took what I saw to be genuine. Actual just before Christmas there was an offer on the LAX route for £1003 UC rtn so this seemed equally a genuine offer too.

That's quite bad that the people the other end of the phone couldn't work out what was wrong, they (you would assume) have the most information about sale dates etc. And from the sound of it, the page has been wrong a few days? And no one else here noticed :-p.

the power of the V-flyer crew, the page has now been ammended from UC to PE. Just glad slinky posted the original page, as no one would believed the original post

I'm quite happy I've grabbed some PE seats into LAX out of SFO for June/July for just £60 more than I paid for exactly the same flights (using M+M then!) in 2010:-

2010:- Fare GBP 580.00
Taxes/Fees/Charges/Surcharges YQ175.00 GB90.00 XT47.50
Total GBP 892.50

2012:- Fare GBP 512.00
Taxes/Fees/Charges/Surcharges YQ239.00 GB130.00 XT71.36
Total GBP 952.36

Bearing in mind the fuel surcharge (YQ) IS essentially part of the fare as it's a cost of doing business, it means the drop in VS price is only £4. (£755 versus £751)

I'm wondering when the next sale will be. Sometimes months, sometimes one starts as the previous one ends... I've noticed all (UC) prices seemed to have had a huge hike... but that might be either cos the 'sale' has ended or to make another one seem better.

Oh, I wish I could 2nd guess it all....

Over the past year the number of errors in the special offer pages has been truly astonishing. I just can't understand why they can't get a hold of this -- it is so amateurish.

Style over substance. At the risk of repeating what has been said ad infinitum, it's all down to a lack of coherent management and accountability across multiple VS business units.

Surely that screen grab is 'enforceable' as a special offer and if challenged in law VS would lose as they've clearly advertised it as a special offer for UC?

theres usually a clause in the T & C's that state they are not responsible for any errors on the website

Unfortunately not - this is a very well established bit of law. I forget the specific detail but I think the advert would be deemed to be an invitation to do business and certainly not the basis for a binding agreement.

Indeed, it would only be the case if you clicked through to the purchase maintaining the same price - in which case VS would have to honour it. As others have pointed out however, the prices were not actually available other than as an 'offer'.

Road warrior is right. The prices are an invitation to treat. In effect you would be making an offer to buy at this price which vs could reject.
If someone had managed to complete a purchase using these fares then it should be a binding contract.
It is the same situation if a shop prices something incorrectly.

I was about to say the same, think it's what known as an opportunity to treat. If it's an error, the company can honour whatever the price is - or they can simply decline to sell it. Most seem to do the latter when gaffes such as these have been made!
