Despite a few flights being pulled recently, I guess as poor loads or for consolidation, I have noted several 601 or 603 flights delayed overnight, tonights 601 is delayed, looks like WOW is late back from maintenance, any other reason??

I've noticed that as well. I'm particularly keen to know as I do this trip regularly. I see that tonight's 601 is delayed by 13 hours as well.! v(

Seems to happen a bit, was on the 601 a few years ago and delayed till 9am following day. Reason given late aircraft arrival so couldn't turn around fast enough to beat flight curfew.

The other reason I wondered was as the 601 and 603 sit in South Africa all day, they can go in the morning, turn straight round to come back and return to LHR, almost on tiume, where as most flights to SFO / MIA etc only have a couple of hours and the delay would knock on...

Following on from this, what would happen if you turn up at LHR checked in, made your way to the CH then had a 12 hour delay until 9am?

Or if you checked in and got told at the desk say at 14.00 that you had a 12 hour delay? As I'm flying UC we can't wait to experience the longue and this would be most annoying if we got turned away due to a 12hr delay not caused by us therefore resulting in "a pop in" first thing the following morning?

This is exactly what happened to us - planned to arrive late afternoon for CH luxury - had a text on the way to LHR informing of delay so didn't check in.

I would imagine if you did OLCI you would have to re-check in the following morning and if you were air-side before the delay was announced then I suspect they would make you go land-side.

I can confirm, however, that a buffet dinner and overnight at the Premier Inn on Bath Road is not a patch on the CH :(!

My sympathies on to you. I would not be impressed. For a start we have a connecting flight into CPT once we land in JNB and we're only there for 4 nights on honeymoon before moving on. So to be made to spend out first night on honeymoon stuck on the bath road instead of the V&A waterfront would not go down to well, especially due to funds already paid to the hotel.

Well it hasn't happened yet so will not worry the nearly new Mrs B by mentioning this pre hand.

I had a massive delay on my last trip as noted here:

Hopefully things might be back to normal by April 18th for my next 601 flight.

Cheers

Paul

I feel you may have underestimated your post, that by all accounts is a great TR. good to see that VS looked after you even if you did miss out on the CH. Did you pen something to Crawley Towers asking for a pass to the CH regardless of cabin of your next flight as compensation?

No I didn't feel as though any compo was justified as they got me to where I wanted to be. Yes I missed out on the CH, but I did get FC miles and Avios!. So I left it.

I tried my luck, wrote to SRB and got 25k miles each for me and the wife!
