Hi All,

Quick question;

Do Virgin give their Upper Class PAX noise cancelling headphones for use onboard? Ot is it just the basic ones?

They are noise cancelling ones, but they aren't the best, and certainly not anywhere near as good as say the Bose noise cancelling ones. They are better than ones given out in Economy and PE.

As Neil says, they are a bit rubbish. If you have your own, take them.

Carrying on from this topic, I have some VA Noise cancelling headphones that a friend gave me after their recent trip in Upper Class. As these headphones have 2 pins, can they be used in Economy class as well, or will they only fit in the Upper Class headphone sockets?

They differ totally from the E/PE ones. Not interchangeable. Noise cancelling requires power and, in the case of the UC phones, the extra pin on the plug is for power. Whereas the standard two-pin arrangement is for stereo.

Interesting, as they should be returned at the end of the flight.

Invest in some Bose, one of the best things I bought after reading about them on VF.

I just had a little browse for these......blimey, they're not cheap are they....think I'll stick to cotton wool )

Bose is never "cheap"
Some even may say "rip off" but I reckon because of the superior Quality of my QC15's they are well worth it. They do a great job on on flights and in my living room when I want to ignore all that is going on around me.

I find my Dr Dre Beats headphones also do the trick, and indeed they will be making an appearance in UC on the VS077 on Monday!

I bought myself a pair of Etymotic hf3 earphones last year and they're by far the best I've ever used so if you're of an in-ear persuasion then I'd highly recommend them.

I tried those, they ended up on eBay pretty quickly :0

Audio technica do half decent ones at about half price of Bose. Used them for yrs with no issue...
