Is overweight hand luggage going to be a problem?

I hear that hand luggage weight has become bit of an issue to a few pax very recently. I am concerned that as I'm having to take my laptop in my hand luggage I will be overweight - even though I'm in PE and won't be having any checked luggage. Could this be a problem?

I've never had my hand luggage weighed before (four flights in the last 3 months)!

Would like to hear of any experiences anyone has had

Just make sure you print your boarding pass before going to the airport, and once there don't go anywhere near a check in desk. You'll be fine if you follow those rules.

I always have one bag that I use as hand luggage and also have a laptop in a laptop bag, even though these rules have now changed on the Virgin website, I have never been told that I cannot take 2 seperate bags into the cabin! after all women are allowed to take a 1 cabin bag plus a handbag and I have seen some huge handbags being taken on!

I think you should be able to get away with it provided you don't get weighed at check in and the bag isn't big and doesn't look heavy. I usually weigh up to about 8kg or a bit more with my laptop in the bag

On our return from MCO this month my hand luggage was weighed :0 and was around 7KG and the assistant made no issue of it at all 8D

I like the advice regarding OLCI and straight to the gate - that should definately do it!
