Any ideas for a busy VS20 29/06

Just a little thing I am finding slightly odd.

My flight on VS 20 on the 29th June is much busier this far out than any other flight I have been on. There are no Z's or I's left, the seat map is the fullest I have ever seen it. I was thinking it could be due to the Olympics, but it's a bit too early IMO, plus flights on either day each side have Z's available. So is there a big convention or something in SFO finishing the day before? Any other ideas?

I am fully aware it could just be some quirky ticketing of less Z's etc, but it's still The fullest I have seen a seat map.

If you like I'll stick a "Reserved" sign on my seat before I leave the aircraft :o)

My money is on there being a big convention on, but looking at the Moscone Center etc. nothing is leaping out.

There are certain routes that are routinely totally full up in all cabins - in particular SFO and HKG are regularly sold out.

Yes, most my flights have been full, apart from December when upper was empty...
But the dates either side have much more availability, just seems like there is something special about the date I am flying.

Even more surprising given that the VS41 is operating on that date

I'm just relieved that I got a G on the VS19

It's not that busy:

VS19 - J9 C9 D9 I9 Z9 W9 S9 K1 Y9 B9 R9 L9 U9 M9 E9 Q9 X9 N4 O0
VS41 - J9 C9 D9 I9 Z9 W9 S9 K0 Y9 B9 R9 L9 U9 M9 E9 Q9 X9 N9 O9

And the seat map on the 19:

Update: only 10 seats not selected on the seat map, all in the B-zone. It's the fullest I have ever seen it! :P

I don't think there's anything going on then (though the fortnight before is *extremely* busy: US Open and a big Apple convention at Moscone, I am travelling back around then and had to route via LAX on the return because of the prices).

However, from experience the Friday flights tend to be generally busier than the Thursday/Saturday: if you're flying on business you don't write a whole workday off travelling, and you still get most of your weekend intact...then again, I flew back on VS20 two weeks ago on a Saturday and it was also packed, so just a generally busy route...

I'm on the VS20 on 26/6 so 3 days before. All UC seats in the upper deck have been selected and also 7 more seats in downstairs A zone. The entire B zone is un-selected at present.

I'm on VS19 on Fri May 25 and have the very same situation. Buying a ticket two months in advance, UC was more extortionately priced than usual yet PE was only £200 more than economy (which itself was £750 in Q!). I decided to go with PE for a change and upgrade later if the pricing got better but with a few weeks to go EVERY seat in PE was taken on the seat map and upgrades were removed.

I might still try my luck ringing them up but I'm getting the strongest "packed" vibes I ever have with a VA flight.

I was on VS19/20 last week, and both flight were full to the brim - not a single spare seat. They were canvassing people for VDB at both check-in and the gate, and actually downgrading people from Upper to PE; at least one very vocally pissed off gent, maybe a few more from the way the FSM kept appearing with champagne and nibbles from the bar for several people - first time I've ever seen one spend so much time in PE, let alone bearing booze.

Best wishes, it's all down to the luck of the draw!

Cheers

Drew

Well, it's a good thing that flights are packed -- right? ;)

Maybe the second SFO flight could be upgraded to a 346 if this persists, assuming this is operationally possible?
