Sorry...... another Question!

Sorry to keep posting!

I have another question with regards to my flight on VA, I was booked in econonmy as per my previous post and upgraded to PE at a reasonable cost.

I was thinking about changing my return flight so I can get an extra day in Vegas, on my booking confirmation it says change fee £120.00. Is this all it will cost assuming there is availability on the returning flight the next day or is there some other hidden charge?

Keep posting - it's what the site is for :)

The £120 is the fee for changing. If there is an IDENTICAL fare available on the flight you want, that will be it. But if there's not, you'll also have to pay the fare difference to the next available one. Could be £40, could be £400 - you'd need to call.. :(

Ahhh ok I understand!

If you upgraded by clicking on the UPGRADE button in the manage your booking, beware... You can't change anything.

I upgraded from PE to UC from LHR-DEL using that method and I was unable to change the date without sacrificing the entire ticket. You had better call and ask.

Well just came off the phone to VA!

Spoke to a very friendly memeber of staff who informed me my date change of my inbound flight would cost me £120 + 42 taxes! :)

Absolute bargain, I had visions of it being well into the hundreds, 1 extra day in Vegas = #winning :)

Backdoc made an important point about changes to the terms of your ticket. They can change even after you have booked and paid.
When you do something to the first flight you can change the second without realising.
Your whole ticket is governed by the most restrictive rules on any part so if you upgrade the first part to a totally unchangeable fare then the second part (that may have been changeable up to that point) also becomes unchangeable.

NONE of that £42 is due to taxes but is due to the VS fuel surcharge (differernce between Econ and PE) and they way they like to disguse it

But good you were able to get a date change !

Oh yes Paul - misread the post but the £42 extra is not due to taxes though which is what VS seem to be portraying it as when it is most likely due to a fare difference because of the date difference.

Will the extra tax not just be extra APD due to the rise at the beginning of this month though? VS are retrospectively charging it, but as this is a change and technically a booking on a new date then they will charge it on the new flight element - so it more than likely is a tax the OP is being charged?

I know you have a bee in your bonnet about the whole fuel surcharge/tax issue at the moment, but sometimes it is better to fully get and think about the facts and options before just assuming VS are trying to be misleading pax and posting as much.
