VS077 MAN - BGI advice

Hi

We are flying this route on 17 September and I have a couple of questions I was hoping someone who has flown this route recently can help with (as the trip reports are quite dated for this route);

1) We're flying PE - any recommendations for the seating? I believe there are some PE seats on the main deck and then the bubble is also PE - would we have a better experience upstairs or down?

2) Regarding disembarkation - does anyone know what door/(s) are used at BGI? Is it just L2 or do they use 2 or more exits? This may affect the seat choice as we don't want to be stuck at the back of a lengthy immigration queue. I presume they let UC off first, but do they usually hold EC back whilst the PE passengers from the bubble come down?

Thanks in advance.

Andy

Hi
Regarding PE you definitely want upstairs in the bubble.
Disembarcation I wouldn't worry about the exits, economy is normally held back to allow upper and PE off first.
I have never flown this route but assuming its a 747 (you mentioned the bubble) this is my experience every time we have flown PE. The main exit used has always been the one on the main deck at the bottom of the stairs to te bubble.

On 1). As the Gatwick Fleet is undergoing a refurb, VS have been upfront in saying that the usual Seat Pre Request in PE, will not be available, as they may not know the type of plane being used in advance

In addition, flights to Barbados, sometimes have used the Heathrow fleet, so to an extent it has always been a bit of a mystery tour

Re 2). At Grantly Adams Airport, you disembark the Aircraft the old fashioned way - Steps - from both L1 and L2

The boarding steps only reach the main deck of a 744, pax sat on the upper deck have to descend the onboard stairs to the main deck first.

It's only A380's that can actually board/disembark directly from the upper deck.
