W S + K are PE classes?

On the return leg VS44 it says W9 S9 K6, does this mean there are still 24 seats spare in PE?

No, it means there are at least 9 seats left, and they are willing to sell only 6 of the remaining seats as a K fare.

Apologies for pedantry, but I thought the numbers didn't refer to seats at all (as such) -- they just detail how many more tickets the airline is willing to issue in a given fare bucket?

@at240 - correct as airlines oversell. @OP "being honest" would have been "can I have a string of numbers I don't understand and then a description of what they actually mean" ;)
