Fare codes

Just did a quick search for an Econ trip from SFO-LHR, just to prove I'd saved the company money by booking when I did but that's neither here nor there....anyhow, the outbound leg on VS42 came up with a U class fare, I looked on the fare codes section on here which says U is Unused....any ideas?

I'm curious. When I first spec'd this trip, the outbound leg was an E class but that's supposed to be staff travel right? When I finally booked it I got O on both legs and upgraded with cash to PE (out) and Upper (in).

You have had a mix of alphabet soup !

VS did some jiggling about with the fare codes last year so maybe they are now using 'U' but its not yet reflected in the Fare Codes table.

The fare codes did indeed change, and E and U are now economy fare codes.

See, for example, http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/frequentflyer/earnmiles/earn_miles_table.jsp
