On top of their flights from LHR-LAS

Bet VS aren't too happy about that.

I dont know weather this is a good move or not for VS. BA tend to be slightly more on their fares compared to VS so I guess it all depends if BA will be dropping their LAS route fare, from Heathrow they've always been approx £300 more than VS which is why i've never flown with them to LAS, also their flight time is ridiclous from Heathrow arriving in Vegas at 6pm and the return flight leaving at 8.20pm, these times really are not suitable for Vegas considering most hotels you have to check out at 12pm!

If VS pay close attention to what BA are doing this could prove a costly route for BA!

A good, old-fashioned sale would help :) Been ages since a proper one.

Well, you got a whale of a sale right now with the BA match just coming out. Shame about the very restricted time window for it, and what seems to be ex-US only, the prices are amazing tho'. If I wasn't already set for a weekend south on Memorial Day I'd have to really consider these fares with someone, VS or otherwise, been a while since we had J fares from the west coast at less than $2k.

Bear in mind also, that with the BMI takeover - there may be a LOT of ex-BD fliers who find themselves with lounge access/status on BA now. Whereas before they may have considered VS, now the BA light might be too strong to resist....

(Ah, nostalgia: I did the old BD MAN-LAS route once, and it was fantastic!)

Yep, I'm one of those. Just logged into my BAEC account to find its been upgraded to Ag :D (I didn't get the email to confirm it had been done so worth checking your account if you are waiting for the status match) and my VS FC account gets downgraded to Ag at the end of May.....mind you I'd rather swim across the Atlantic before choosing to fly BA long haul :w

Yes - some good stuff ex-US, sadly not so this side of things...

On the flipside, does anyone think VS would ever launch an LHR - LAS service? BA is clearly able to fill their 747's or I doubt they would introduce additional capacity from LGW and from what I understand Virgin's Vegas flights are also pretty full.

Whilst Vegas is primarily a holiday destination, with all the conferences and conventions that take place in Sin City there must be some considerable business demand too (I suppose echoed by the fact BA introduced a first class cabin on the route along with significantly more J seats than VS).

I live north of the M25 so Heathrow would be fantastic news, am I living in hope or could this ever happen in reality?

If anything, VS will more than likely increase MAN>LAS flights.
