We are not regular flyers, last time was 5 years ago when we got married in Florida
Going tommorrow VS7 1130 LHR-LAX for a Fly Drive
After days of checking the Seat Plans it has just opened at 8.45 and ive got 30H&K in PE
Questions... Can I go to work now and Check In later when the OLCI opens and we will keep the seats ?

Yes, that should be okay - although you need to do OLCI really at least 13 hours before the flight departure time to keep your pre-requested seats.

Thanks for the prompt response Neil, The OLCI opened bang on 24 hours before the flight and I checked in.
I know its been talked about in other threads but we both have middle names and the Boarding Pass has printed out the first and middle name together...... I take it there shouldnt be an issue when Boarding, the API and Passport show our middle names seperate. It would be nice if Virgin sorted this out, juding from the amount of forums messages out there !

Ah okay, I'm on a different time zone so missed up that you had posted earlier.
I'm sure you will be fine with the middle name issue, a tip for future s just not to out them in your booking, we never do and never have any problems.

The merged middle name issue is not a Virgin only issue. It is also a 'feature' of other airline and travel agents systems but as Neil says not having it on your BP or even in the booking is very rarely an issue for most people.

I stopped using middle names years ago. Caused no end of issues (none major though) due to inconsistancy. The merging of the names was one such issue (this is quite common accross sites).

Does any one see the merging of first and middle name on my boarding card as an issue, I'm reluctant to speak to Virgin in case they say I have to change my ticket and charge me lots of money for something that is effectivley a problem they made!
Just spoke to Virgin and having your First and Middle name merged on the Boarding Card is OK for Travel, as long as it matches your names on your Passport and API... Happy Days!

None at all.

I've never had an issue with this, either with Virgin or any other airline for that matter. The TSA for instance are well used to the fact they merge on there. You'll be fine.

This issue came up recently on the VS Facebook site and the official line was that it was not a problem. I don't know if it is industry wide but there is no separation between first and middle names otherwise the middle name could be taken as being a surname leading to all kinds of complications

It's pretty much industry wide, though on some carriers it just merges first name and middle initial. I'm pretty sure the TSA requires you to put middle names on domestic bookings, I'd say it's safer to include it than not to.
