A dull question!

Hi all

My brain's not working tonight for some reason and cannot make head nor tail of the T&Cs relating to upgrades. Apparently:

4.4.9 .....Round trip upgrades relate to two flown sectors only. Please note double the Miles are needed for round trip upgrades to and from Sydney.

Why does it mention Sydney in particular? Spend table shows 55,000 miles for one-way upgrade from Econ to UC for London to Sydney. If I wanted to stop over in Hong Kong both ways, would this work out to a total of 110,000 miles? If I were lucky to get a companion ticket as well, am I also correct in saying that the total miles needed would be an additional 100,000 for the round trip (i.e. a total of 210,000).

Any help gratefully received (I shouldn't do sums after a few beers!!!)

Sydney is classed as two flights. LHR to HKG and the. HKG to SYD, so double the amount of miles are needed for a flight LHR to SYD.

If you look an upgrade from LHR to HKG is 30k, and a HKG to SYD is 25k, which is your 55k in total for LHR to SYD, and another 55k back would mean 110k in total?

A companion fare is 100k round trip, but don't forget to use a companion fare in Upper Class you need to buy a full J class UC ticket. You couldn't use it with your upgraded with Y miles ticket. You will almost certainly find that it is a lot cheaper to book 2xG UC fares than a J and companion.
