I am planing on booking a Economy flight from London to Jamaica and have about 14,000 air miles. can this get me a upgrade to PE.
I have also read that it is only certain types of Economy tickets which you are allowed to upgrade to PE how do you know when you purchase your Economy ticket if you will be able to use your miles to upgrade

Thanks you in advance

For Economy to PE to Jamaica you need 12,500 miles. You also need to book into an upgradable fare which is either Y, B, R, L. To do this log in to your account and the Spend miles/Upgrade option. This should show you the availability and also the price of the lowest upgradable fare. However you might need to call VS if you intend to upgrade one leg only - which is all you can do

Ditto what HL has said :) .There also needs to reward availability for the PE seat (and possibly extra charges in the form of additional airline fees).
It's often cheaper to buy a discounted PE fare :) (booking in K class).

Thanks Honey lamb
Is the 12,500 both ways?
And if the lowest fare is approx £715 how much more will and upgradable fare going to be? is it something silly or just a bit more?

7,500 miles would enable you to get a return miles+money fare in PE so look at how much that would cost.
