Best Way to Upgrade if at all possible

Me and my hubbie are flying PE to Las Vegas from Gatwick, early July booked directed with Virgin Atlantic, and I would like to upgrade to UC, I enquired about a month ago and I was quoted £4000 each to upgrade just one way we are already coming back UC, could someone tell me if:
1: This flight is always usually booked solid in UC
2: Try again to upgrade closer to the date
3: Try and upgrade prior to checking in.

All this would be money, as our ticket doesnt let us upgrade with miles.

Many thanks

Have you checked Manage My Booking online? Often that'll tell you how much the current upgrade price is.

And if still no joy it's always worth asking at check-in but remember there are only 14 UC seats on the LGW 747s and on the Vegas route they often sell out.

What are your dates - we could check the loads for you, but as said LAS is popular and the UC cabin is small = often full.

Do you have miles, there is the slimmest of chances that you may have a MFU option but you'd need to be booked into S or W class in PE?
