V-Flyer

Hi all,

I hope you are all weel and not too tired of newbie questions (like mine)just yet.

I have a question with regards to going through security when you check-in as a PE flyer. I know that UC pax have a priority security lane which then leads them to the lounge. However with me not being an Au member (yet!)or flying UC are PE pax allowed the same security or do they have to got through with everyone else? I don't expect any lounge access but does this affect if you have a priority security lane or not?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

You will have to use the standard security at LHR T3 - the VS channel is only for UC pax and Au card holders.

It doesn't. The private security channels into the far end of the main security lanes and then into the Duty Free area.

Sorry about that I only got that impression because of the trip reports etc I have read on here kept saying "through security and whisked off to CH" So I assumed that when they got through Security they were bang next to the clubhouse.

Unfortunately you still have to weave and dodge your way through duty free, but with sharp elbows and a wheelie you can knock down quite a few idlers ): .

Since the latest refit of the T3 Shopping Mall, I have taken to cutting a direct path through in a close approximation to a straight line from the passport desks at the entrance, through the chocolates, straight across the wooden walkway through the perfumes and out near Jo Malone/The Caviar House.

I did see a yellow sign recently "Accident - idler knoked down and fatally injured. Did you see..." type thing - had your name all over it Slinky!

Me too! The duty free shop is cleverly designed to make this quite counter-intuitive. It takes determination to get it right but it's very satisfying.

I belive 'Crimewatch' are preparing to film a re-enactment and do the whole "have you seen this man? do you recognise this wheelie suitcase? Perhaps you were in the vicinity and perusing the extra large toblerone and noticed something?" thing.

Yep! That's my route too. And I'm nearly as bad as slinky. I nearly flattened Jason Whatsisname, the cranky judge who used to be on Dancing on Ice just by the seafood place near the entrance to the departure gates ):

rdbcay: You're right. We do tend to write in our TRs. "Through the security channel and straight up to the Clubhouse" which basically means we don't bother to stop in the DF area. Well let's face it, when there's a glass of champagne with your name on it waiting for you, would you stop? )

Like all of you, I take exactly the same route - it is almost certainly designed to fool you, but a bit of practice works ) .

I avoid the chocolate section (too many kids) and head straight through the booze before hanging a right through the smellies and a dog leg to the left of the tills et voilla !
