Hey All,

About to leave today on VS LAX>LHR and had a couple questions:

1) On my last trip I was upgraded from Red to Silver after the first segment. Before that leg i had 13 points, full fare Premium gave me 4 points and so I was upgraded when 15 was hit...but I've seemingly "lost" those other 2 points as the balance on silver does not reflect them. Is this expected, or a mistake?

2) Does anyone have any exp with tier points on same-day first class upgrades on VX? I've only been getting credit for 1 instead of 2. I have tried requesting support with both VX and VS but am being told it's only good for 1 despite the site saying otherwise.

3) If I use miles to upgrade full fare Premium on VS to UC, do I still earn miles/tier points? I do fine enough on mileage that I'm fine if I lose it (or it's reduced), but I don't want to completely lose tier points.

Others on here will know point 1, I'm sure.

On point 2) - Same day upgrades don't count for full tier points. They're correct in awarding you with 1. To be fair to that policy, you got a first class ticket at a greatly reduced cost - it's a bit unfair to expect the full rewards for the same. (Remember, miles/TP's "cost" the airlines - they're technically a financial liability)

3) Yes, you earn miles on the fare/class you booked before the upgrade, and tier points

Same day cheap upgrade to First on VX does not earn the extra tier point

As Paul said you will get the miles and TPs for your original booked fare BUT VS IT systems can't seem to credit these to your account automatically so remember to keep the BPs in order to make a manual claim.

To be fair - on some occasions they seem to post automatically, and on others, a quick phonecall to VS directly resolves the issue post-flight.

I've never once needed to send a VS boarding pass in, as it's all held on their system anyway.

Yep, I only got 1 tier point for a same day upgrade to First on VX and to claim it and the miles I had to send off my e-ticket and boarding card.

When you reach silver your visable points are set to 0 although they are still on your account and count towards gold that is because your teir point year has now re set so you have 1 year to keep your silver statues,but if in the year since you you opened your FC account you collect 40 you will get to gold.. its a bit complex but type in teir points in VS search and it sort of explains it
