I think you can only use miles to get a car if you have a G reward UC ticket which you book via VS and not tristar.

You can only spend miles on a CDC if you already have a reward Upper Class flight booked. If this is the case you can spend another 17,500 miles each for a one way UK CDC. You need to call Flying Club to book these.

You can't book a CDC using miles on it's own though or even if you have any other VS revenue or reward flight.

To add to what has already been said, VS does not have a Drive Thru Check In at Gatwick and Tristar will drop you off where all the cabs do.

Have used Tristar a number of times to take Mrs Buns and I to Gatwick and to pick up on return. The cost is comparable to local cab firms, but comes with quality cars and drivers - which gives peace of mind

Hi

I've used them once before with me and the girlfriend which was great as the car was big enough for us and our 6 cases :D, the service is brilliant and I had no troubles with them and I didn't mind paying that little extra either! Good service comes at a price. I just wondered if the car could be booked using my miles, as I think I saw it somewhere on the VA site :)

Or do you think it's worth saving my miles? I have 30,000 now and I am travelling UC next September? Should I spend them on something else worth while?

Thanks again

As to value it depends what value you put on your miles and if you belive that is better (or worse) than shelling out cash.

Hi

I don't think I have a G reward ticket as it will be to Orlando from gatwick! I am thinking its not a problem paying for it rather then spend the miles which I may need in the future

When 12,500 miles can bag an upgrade to San Francisco, 17,500 miles for a car seems a lot ;) .

Haha no way! Where's the logic in that one?!? I think I will have to keep a hold onto the miles for future flights or upgrades!

I think that's wise, particularly if you can find someone local to you. I still regret (a bit) shelling out for the miles for a CDC from SFO to Santa Rosa, but it did mean that I didn't have to worry about being late and after the flight I just had to find the VS rep and be directed to the car.

But Santa Rosa is a fair distance from SFO (as well I know from regularly driving to Garberville and Fortuna) and is probably a greater distance than what VS allow for their Upper Class passengers to fly from LHR or LGW. In any case, unless the OP has used miles to book/upgrade his flight, it's a moot point as he would only be allowed to use miles for a CDC in that situation

True and true.

The milage limit for CDCs at all destinations is 75miles. For US CDCs only, you can then top this up for $3.50 per extra mile.
