Heathrow Clubhouse WiFi

I travelled on VS001 on Monday - heavy loads that day, less usual gate at T3 - 40 after a walk to ther my PE ticket caused a red light and beep at the gate, seat 37K changed to 23D and a free upgrade to Upper very nice! That gold card helped again maybe.
However my question is about Wireless at the Heathrow clubhouse. Does it ever actually work? This is my second visit there in 2 months and both times it hasn't worked- just painfully slow to get to the login page and then nothing.

It varies quite wildly -- sometimes fine, sometimes virtually unusable.
Well done on the op-up!

Been in there 4/5 times in the past 3 months - not once has it worked properly. I even posted the issue on Facebook, where VS seem to think an acceptable answer to a *basic* network provision is:
We aware the signal strength has started to dip over the last couple of months and I've been told our IT team are very much on the case. We want to resolve this as much as anyone so hopefully it won't be too much longer.
MONTHS?!?! Ridiculous. It's a BUSINESS class lounge VS, the clue is in the name... (and don't get me started on the one in SFO - that's been a year now...)

I'll go in and fix it for them for a few tier points

It is poor though - they whole clubhouse experience is great but this lets it down. Coupled with the fact that the 3G signal, from Vodafone at least is poor in that area options are limited.
The JFK lounge and Newark one are fine, though Newark is strange havign two SSIDs broadcast. I found vsewr2 the better performing onw.

Maybe they should get Virgin Media to provide the set up... I know many find them awful, but they have installed WiFi at a few tube stations very quickly and I got 45mbps on the southbound Victoria Line platform at Victoria last week.

It's so bad I don't even bother connecting and hot spot to my iPhone. It's one thing that bothers me about VS, like the web site issues, they know about it, but don't seem to do anything about it.

The old JFK lounge was very patchy. The new one seems better (but only experienced it once). Newark, as you say, is weird -- I could not get the first one to work at all. The second one you mention was usable but not stellar.

I've always found the LHR wifi okay at worst, I couldn't connect at all with the old JFK one.

There was an I.T. guy in the CH last time I was there, a lot of unhappy business passengers trying to use the WIFI. It was unworkable, I ended up using one of the wired laptops within the study.
Certainly needs looking at, I didn't feed back at the time as there were more than enough people complaining about it already.

I find this a bit strange. Never really had an issue at all with it. The only time was when they recently change the login page and the password changed. I have the old username and password saved v(
Normally I am working in the CH for a few hours, this includes connecting via VPN to our offices whist having my iPad running flighttracker24.com see where the aircraft are going and where they have come from.
The only issue I have is when I leave the CH my phone loses the signal as it wants me to logon that expensive Bongo Wifi!!
I'm there Thursday, will check again.

26th May - He was a Servicedesk type - not VS I don't think, outsourced I believe.

It was woeful for me too at the end of June. I wanted to check in for my onward flight with Untied and check in a bag. Thanks to the inanity of the wf-fi I ended up paying for the bag twice and had to call my credit card company to remove one of the payments

I generally find the LHR Clubhouse to be good for Wi-Fi (like LovingGold). Since the change to Virgin Media a few months ago it is also much easier to log on to - both on my laptop and my Blackberry.
SFO is the worst IMHO and Newark used to be awful, but I haven't been there in a few months so maybe that one has improved.

Wifi working well this morning. But that could be due to the fact there aren't many people here yet?

We I am sitting in the CH house now.
I have internet browsing at a fair pace, not the fastest. I also have my VPN connected to work and my IP Phone running and working.
To me, that isn't too shoddy. Saying that there are only about 80 people in here.

No kidding on the SFO VS wi-fi; now I just use the free SFO wi-fi. An exasperated woman came up to me last time I was in the SFO lounge as she saw me using my laptop, and I pointed her in the direction of SFO's free wi-fi....just have to watch an ad and you're on. Worked pretty well.

When I visited the clubhouse at the end of last month, the wi-fi was incredibly slow. It took 5 minutes for it to load the planes on the Virgin Atlantic app!
