Hi,

This might seem a daft question, but here goes...

If travelling with just cabin bags, do you need to go to the check-in desk at all, if you've check-in online and printed boarding passes? Even if flying UC, I don't think they issue clubhouse invites anymore?

You shouldn't need to, no. Just head straight to security.

Aren't there some airports where you do need a lounge invite if there's no VS clubhouse?

I seem to remember being given one for the Air NZ lounge last time I flew out of LAX. Or maybe I'm getting mixed up.

Yup - the shared lounges need an invite.

Apologies for barging in on this thread, what do you use to enter the clubhouse without an invite, is it just a case of showing your boarding pass?

Cheers in advance.

For shared, you usually need the invite as a boarding card may mean absolutely nothing to the 'Guardian of the Portal'.

For clubhouses, your names on the screen. They just check your boarding pass and your in.

Do you still gain acces to the Fast Track with an OLCI printed at home boarding pass?

I've been in the air NZ lounge and other shared lounges with BP only. They sometimes make a phone call to check but I've never had a problem getting in as entitled. You don't 'need' an invite it may just make it 30 seconds quicker on occasions.

We're going from LHR. I don't recall being given an invitation on the last couple of occasions, but yes, I suspect if it would be different if for a shared lounge. Hadn't thought about whether having checked in at home would affect whether or not you could use the security channel - but surely it reads the code on the boarding pass you print off?

if I travel in Y I find that the scanner doesnt scan my printed boarding pass so have to press the buzzer at the security entrance and hold up my gold card and boarding pass to the camera so they can see, and then someone opens the door
