Has anyone seen this before? Pretty shocking if its true, even though there are always two sides to every story ...

Lot's of other stories and complaints which do not paint a good image of Virgin. Would any of these put you off flying with them?

About as much as the rambling loony on the street telling me that the government are stealing his dreams that's why he wears the foil cap... this is over 15 years old FFS.

Really? That was Feb 14 1997. A whole 15 years ago. That guy either holds one hell of a grudge or is obsessed beyond reason. Personally I don't believe a word of it. I suspect he is well and truly hiding what really happened

In all fairness, if the guy is telling the truth then its understandable why he will not let it drop. I wouldn't either if I was him.

I have flown with Virgin 7 times to America and have enjoyed everyone of the flights. The only other long haul airline I have used Air Canada and they were not a patch on Virgin in any respect. Therefore, I will continue to use Virgin.

Seems very petty to complain about an announcement in the first place. It could have been the captain announcing turbulence or just a mid flight update, which many passengers like to have. I'm sure there must have been something else that happened either prior or after this event.

As stated above, it was 15 years ago. My experience of VS over the last 12 years has been very good to date, and much better than US carriers.

Wow - I can understand someone wanting to clear their name if this did happen but I can't help but think there is much more behind this than one guys challenge against VS. The link to BritishScarways at the bottom of the page goes way beyond his gripe.
Also not sure the link to Harold Shipman is really on the same scale!!

There's no way the crew would have reported this to the police if it wasn't true. Believe me after a flight all you want to do is get to the hotel and out of your uniform and have a shower, not hang around the airport for hours to be questioned and interviewed by police! Therefore the crew would not have reported him just for fun or as a 'conspiracy'. Im sure there's more to this than mr Phillips is admitting to!

I thought the initial complaint was petty as well, the guy was going on a fantastic trip, better than the vast majority of people will ever go on in their lives. Complaining about what would have been a short interruption is pretty churlish and petty.

Seconded.. I gave up reading half way through, it definitely strained credulity.

As for the site - looks like something that Dateline would come up with to catch predators.. n(

My favourite bit - "I am slandering you because you are a liar and you know it.".

I publicly state that I am committing an offence because I believe that you are a liar. Wonder if the arrest docket is a public document?

Yes, but don't worry. Apply the ointment 3 times a day and if symptoms persist, contact your doctor. ;)

I came across this years ago as well - does anyone really care ?
Itdoes not always matter right or wrong you need to move on.

Why has this re-appeared now ?

Have a feeling it has something to do with Pasty-gate.

Gregg's were involved in that too...

I was rather hoping a palliative martini might work too, perhaps that and the ointment.

Whist not wanting to comment on whether he was fitted up or not I too gave complained on Virgin aircraft when cabin crew have made announcements during the last five minutes of a film causing people to miss the end of that programme especially when the film coundnt be paused or rewound and secondly the announcement could have been made after the loop had finished with just the slightest bit of thought.

I thought all the IFE's automatically pause when there is a cabin announcement?

Not at all. I've had my ups and downs with VS and I still fly with them. I had the flight from hell in February this year and I've flown 9 sectors on VS since then. Every airline has horror stories, some more than others, but correct me if I'm wrong, no airline can be all bad all the time.

I have never been on a plane where the TV continued during announcements either.

I do think that quite often there is was too much blah blah blah on the PA. I do not want to hear about the operational times of the airport express or that I need to collect my bags before I leave the airport.
I know the charity appeal does a lot of good but don't keep going on about it.

I suppose that for every frequent flyer, there are far more non-frequent or even first-time flyers.

I too have fallen in and out and back in love with VS and would not let this mans case stop me from flying with them, but having now read this original complaint, I found from my experience (20 yrs in the constabulary) that people who have committ offenses prefer to keep quite and let it drop, I am amazed that VS allow this site to continue to operate especially if they have so many members of crew involved. Surely they could win any libel case.

Imagine the first swathe of headlines - Beardy Multi Millionare's Unfeeling Corporation Seeks to Crush Regular Guy.....

If the courts then found for VS, would these headlines get rescinded? Don't think so....

How strange that this link appears here only a few days after it was posted on a FB thread (now deleted)
