Reward seat sale - buying for AN Other

I just need clarification on the reward seat sale.
We're scheduled to fly with the Dark side in February to LAS in Club.
My nieces (23 and 25) may want to travel to Vegas at the same time and I've just seen the Reward seat sale in economy.
I will use my miles to enable them to travel, but do I have to travel with them as this would be impossible if I'm going out of LHR and they would be going out of LGW.
I've done this before, but we've at least been on the same flight but don't know how it works if I just make the booking for them using my miles and not travel with them.
