Unable to Fly due to Injury - can I claim back my Air Miles?

Please say yes LOL...
Anyway due to a torn ligament in my leg, it is possible that I won't be able to fly a week on Tuesday. Whilst my travel insurance will take care the £463 taxes, what do I do in regarding the 90,000 Air Miles? Presumably my insurance won't cover this? I can get proof of my injury and I would hope that VA can credit the Air Miles but I'm not sure how this works.
I will see my Doctor next week and he will let me know if I can fly (my leg has swollen up).
Many thanks

What VS should be able to do is book you on another reward flight to the same destination at a later date i.e. just change the date of your reward flight (dependant on availability). You may have to pay the £25 change fee though.
Speak to VS before you claim anything on your insurance as VS probably wont have to cancel and/or re-book, they should just be able to change the date on your existing reward booking.

Thank you. What would be the best number to call them on? (I'm only Flying Club Red).

Call them using your Red Flying Club number (should be on the back of your card) as it is Flying Club that deal with reward bookings.

If it's an UC reward (which I'm assuming it is as it's 90,000 miles plus the taxes) ring the Premier (Au and UC) line.

at worst if you do cancel you lose a percentage of the miles its in the T&C how much
as stated above though just change the date for 25 quid. even if you have to do it again your are still only out £50

Some insurance companies do now cover loss of airmiles etc., so check your policy
We are insured with Direct Travel who I have to say were brilliant during the ash cloud debacle and they cover both the loss of our VA airmiles and also Tesco Clubcard vouchers which we have used to partially fund a coach tour this year.

Thanks for your help all. It's given me some options to think through by the end of next week.
