Hi,
I have just checked the load figures for our flight from SFO to LHR this Friday evening and it is showing 24 upper class seats left. From experience, do any of you think that these seats will be made available at the airport? Also do you think they would allow mileage upgrades for these seats. We are currently booked in economy but I have spare mileage.
Thanks
Matt

Hi there, on what basis do you count 24 seats (and are you on the 20 or the 42)?
I can see 9's in UC on EF for both Friday flights - it is possible that some will be available to upgrade, I'd get there earlyish and ask!

If you are basing the 24 seats left on the seat map on your My Booking page then remember that not everyone selects seats prior to the flight. On my recent flight ex-YVR only one other person apart from myself had selected a seat but in the end the cabin was nearly full

How can you see what seats are taken/available in a cabin into which you are not booked ?
This would be useful to know.

As Neil says, but merge with HL's comment, EF might show seats, but that doesn't mean they'll all be empty of people ...

My apologies, I misunderstood the seat map. Does anyone know the cash or mileage price they offer the upgrades for if available?

The last Upgrade price at SFO I saw a couple of months ago was @£900 from Econ to UC one way

The cash price is not fixed. Mileage upgrades will go for the standard Y-->J price.
Back in the day, they would release some G in the cabin if it was really that empty, around one to two weeks out, and you could call and upgrade. If I am not mistaken the site shows availability for a dummy booking right now for UC with miles, so you should simply be able to call VS and upgrade. You could even go to the airport and do it at the ticketing counter if you are in the area, they are open and can do this for flights later in the week while they are checking in the flight of the day.
Good luck.
